OllO World App Tip, Great Museum Restaurants

Many museums have a restaurant within the same building, so art and culinary can be combined. I personally like this combination very much. When you visit an art museum, you don’t want to look for a restaurant just for a coffee or lunch. I have found two museums in Switzerland that have implemented this combination perfectly. Please have a look at the OllO World App, there you may find other interesting destinations.

The Grison Art Museum, Chur

The Villa Planta, named after the builder Jacques Ambrosius von Planta, was built between 1874 and 1875 by the architect Johannes Ludwig as a private residence. In 1957, the property was finally acquired by the Canton of Graubünden. In 2011, an international architectural competition was launched, which was won by the Barcelona-based architectural firm Estudio Barozzi/Veiga. The new building blends in perfectly with the old villa.

The restaurant in the Grison Art Museum is very well attended, even during the week. Many business people have reserved a table there over lunchtime. Therefore you should reserve a seat before your visit.

The menu also includes light, easily digestible dishes, in keeping with the trend of modern, healthy cuisine. The service is friendly and courteous. One feels very comfortable there. Even if you are travelling alone, you are very welcome. I sat down at a table that was also occupied by a single person. We had a splendid conversation and so the lunch break passed in no time. It turns out that one can have the best conversations this way. In summer the garden restaurant is open. But I do not know if I would rather eat inside in the wonderful rooms, such an ambience is not available everywhere.

Tinguely Museum Basel

At Chez Jeannot, the café in the Tinguely Museum has a view of the Rhine. In summer you can sit outside. Brunches are available all week from 10 am to 14:00 pm. Why not?

The new exhibition is called Amuse-Bouche, The Taste of The Art. (19.2.-17.5.2020). Have a look, it’s very interesting.

The building was designed by the architect Mario Botta the exhibition of Jean Tinguely’s sculptures. Up to twenty machine sculptures can be displayed. The building is located on the edge of the motorway. It is surrounded by an old tree population with a garden and the Rhine promenade.

Both museums invite you to an excursion. The Chef’s Handyman Team and the OllO World Team travelled together and found both places very exciting also in culinary terms.

More restaurant tips will be found in the OllO World App. Have a great day yours Chef’s Handyman & OllO World teams.
