The snow tickles down, while I sit in front of the fireplace sipping a drink. A cranberry drink might be a perfect choice as welcome for my guests, right? Twisted up with gin and ginger beer and a refreshing drink is ready to raise a toast to my friends.

For the cranberries, place them into a pan. Add lemon juice, 2 dashes of cinnamon, ginger and 3 tbsp. preserving sugar. Simmer on medium heat for 6-8 minutes. Remove the pan and cool the berries.

Place fresh peppermint leaves into tumbler glasses, add lemon rind, 1-2 tbsp. of cranberries. Fill up with gin and ice-cold ginger beer. If needed add ice cubes.

Chef’s Handyman tip: For the non-alcoholic version, leave the gin.

Shopping list for 4 glasses: 1 cup fresh cranberries, 1 bunch of peppermint, 1 lemon, 1 piece ginger, 2 dashes of cinnamon, 3-4 tbsp. preserving sugar, 4 ginger beers, gin.
